The Result Is In: Jessica Sanchez in AI’s Top 5

I don’t know if you were as nervous and tense as me before the result was announced (I was in the middle of re-reading the Percy Jackson and the Olympians books series by Rick Riordan-I’m dying for the third book of the Heroes of Olympus series, The Mark of Athena). I’m sure, Jessica felt more. After all, she’s the one on the spot. Thankfully, I let out a huge sigh of relief when we received the news that we wanted.

Ecstatic is probably an understatement.  Just think of how many people who are currently celebrating this great stepping stone for someone that we are very proud of, whether you are a Filipino, Mexican or American.

It brought smile to my face when almost all Filipinos already learned to describe Jessica as Filipino-Mexican-American. The Mexicans deserves it because Jessica is their pride too, not only us. They are also one of the greatest supporters one could have, like us. Imagine if we all work together for Jessica... It would be the biggest thing ever.  And, of course, let’s remember that Jessica has American fans too.

I’ll be honest, there’s a different reason why I decided to write this post. Now, that Jessica is in the Top 5, the competition is more extreme. We already know how great Jessica is. But, I just want to share this to everyone who is reading. SHE NEEDS TO HAVE THAT BIG “MOMENT” again. It’s been quite some time since her last one. Her performance of Everybody Has A Dream was her last solo standing ovation. But like many would say, her greatest moment so far, in American Idol was her performance of I Will Always Love You. Let me elaborate that... It was her first performance as a part of the Top 12, the first one that gave her first standing ovation as one of those in the Top 12, the first ‘enormous’ song that she sang, another first for how legendary Whitney Houston is (the one who made the song very famous), the first one that was way way beyond and lastly, another first for being the performance that made a number of artists, critics, viewers and supporters declare that she’ll make it to the Finale (and win the title this year).

You see, it’s really crucial. She had solo standing ovations during her Top 24, Top 12 and Top 10 performance. So, now, that she’s in the Top 5, it’s the right time to have another ‘moment’. It should be something that would make people say “She deserves to be in the Finale”, “She should be in the Finale”, “She’ll make it” or even much better “SHE’S DEFINITELY GONNA WIN IT!”

It would be hard on Jessica’s part. But she needs to do it. If she did, she has a MUCH BETTER chance of surviving through the Finale of AI. Her fellow AI contestants will give all their efforts…their fans too. Surely it is tougher, more than ever.

It takes two to tango. There are two parts, Jessica’s and the fans’.

I still want to remind my fellow Filipinos, to not own Jessica as a Filipino only.  Let’s acknowledge that there are three bloods in Jessica, Filipino, Mexican and American. Let’s all unite and make a history in American Idol. Everything is possible. I agree with this particular line in the song Miracles Happen by Myra (which is also the name and theme song of this blog) “miracles happen once in a while when you believe.” We can do this.

By the way, I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVVVVVVVVVVVVVEEEEEEEEEEEEE Jessica's version of Dance With My Father. Here's the studio version of the song:
