As I came to watch Marvelous Alejo for the past weeks, I’ve grown to admire and love this girl. That’s from someone who is about five years her senior. In every road travelled, we will be there behind her. This is only the beginning of a fickle journey. But I believe that with a marvelous girl like her, she deserves to triumph. That may be about winning in Artista Academy but most importantly it is even way beyond that title.
A lot has been happening...words have been said and things have been done. Before i discuss certain issues, allow me to share with you, what I think of her as a person.
Margarette Veronica Louise Lim has either an undeniable or unspeakable charm. Let us just say that what she has is the “mass appeal”, an aspiring celebrity who treats her fans as equals no matter what social status they have. She will not look down at you if you’re not as privileged as her with money. The fact that she ‘really’ knows how hard it is to not be well-off it speaks magnanimous. Aside from her being down-to-earth, she exudes this very simple and good vibe. She doesn’t fall in the “maarte” category. Imagine watching someone who is super vain of herself. It would be too annoying and irritating. I understand that she’s quite boyish and for me, that’s actually fine. Why? Well, let us admit, girls can be over dramatic most of the time. She doesn’t need more drama in her life. So, I think it’s a good idea to bond with the boys who can be so much fun instead of trying to fit in herself with some particular girls who are any (or all) of the following: judgmental, insecure, agnostic and last but not the least, plastic. Those are actually her pet peeves. Personally, these kinds of girls are really dangerous and damaging. We might as well, keep a lot of distance from them. I’ll discuss ‘this’ issue later.
When I discovered that she’s a consistent honor student, I couldn’t help but smile. The good thing is, she doesn’t brag about it. It would be a total turn-off if she boasted it. Anyways, she’s not only smart...what matters most is she’s wise too. I just hope that she can still pursue her education especially if she really wants to finish Veterinary Medicine. It’s something that other people can’t really rob from you and at least, it’s something that can somewhat assure her future. A showbiz career is uncertain. You wouldn’t know how long it will last. So, I bet she knows about her plan B.
The factor that also draws me towards her is her selflessness. She’s the oldest and that’s a huge responsibility on her shoulders especially that her father is a seaman. Correct me if I’m wrong, I bet the main reason why she took this opportunity is for her to be able to help her family in their situation. She’s not like the ‘others’ who were able to enjoy the perks of material things and don’t experience sacrificing the goodness of being a teenager over the improvement of their family’s life. They don’t need to do that because their already rich. But that’s not the case with her. She does household chores...definitely not something that ‘some’ of these girls had done. The one that really stood out for me is, she’s God-fearing. She’s a devout Christian. I am not sure of what exact religion sector she’s in. But, she read the bible, she knows what’s in it, she even shares the word of God. She’s as true to herself as her faith to God. On the other hand, “they” are just so judgmental that they think she was faking it and lying. We all know how true Christians do not lie. They just stay away from sins. Go figure.
Seriously, she is working hard, grabbing every chance here and there for the sake of her family. No wonder why more and more viewers grow fonder of her. She’s just like non-celebrities. She can relate to us more than the ‘others’.
Honestly speaking, I’d rather have her as a friend rather than those ‘spoiled rich girls’.
Now, we can move on to the issues. The reason is very obvious why ‘they’, I’m talking about some particular girls, were feeling and saying those things about her. It’s either they’re insecure or threaten. But to be honest, it’s like they go hand-in-hand, so it wouldn’t make any difference. So, they would be both. Look at it this way, if Marvelous isn’t that good and she’s not being a threat to them, they definitely would not look at her twice. They wouldn’t care. But the problem is she’s one. They even noticed that she seems like a favorite. Well, that’s not a surprise for me.
I’ll be able to accept it if they’re that good too. But they’re not. Chanel is consistent in the Top 3 every week for girls. If it came from her, it’s okay for me because she has proven herself. But coming from ‘these’ girls who either excel only in one aspect if not none at all, it’s outrageous. Where do these courage and thick face emerge from? Where did they get them? Let us be logical here...if Jon was in Marvelous’ position and vice versa, do you think that ‘they’ would have the same reaction? NO. They would celebrate if she is removed from the competition. It wouldn’t matter if it was fair or not. But as you heard and saw, ‘they’ are insisting that it’s unfair and she was only faking her sickness. They should make use of their brain and think thoroughly that it would harm her more other than benefit from it if she would fake her condition, thus, she would miss the live exam which might put her in a very high possibility to be expelled from the academy. If her reason is just to escape her dance exam, that would be a huge risk, wouldn’t it? A wise person like Marvelous couldn’t sacrifice that. If they are being agnostic about it, that’s their problem but they shouldn’t tarnish her name in public so they can get ahead of her in the competition because that would be what’s really UNFAIR. Do you see how they can be so mean? They are the ones who are resolving to dirty tactics. It’s not her.
Do they think that what they’re doing would benefit them more? They’re mistaken. Why? Simple, Filipinos will have more sympathy with the protagonist, who is being attacked by the enemies from every direction, left, right, front, back, bottom and top, rather than the antagonists.
They were also questioning the grade that she got compared to Jon. It would be better if they confirmed the fact first and put off their theories and speculations for a moment. Ask the judges what really happened. Was it right that they conclude instantly? It just shows how desperate they are. Can I ask them? How many times did Jon land in the bottom? Marvelous wasn’t in the bottom until she missed the live exam (and this week). She’s consistent in the top. If you compare the two, he deserves to go more than her. She has more fans than him and she’s way more talented. That’s the way it is.
How can it be so unfair if she performed the two acts during the fourth live exam? The one she missed last week, dancing, and acting. Who have narrow minds? Not her, not us.
It’s just hard to be in a place with people you have complications with. That’s so uncomfortable. But she’ll going to survive it. Out of the girls, I think Chanel and Malak are closer to her. I’d rather see either of them win instead of the ‘others’ if Marvelous isn’t the one. At least, she’s not totally left alone. She also has Mark Neumann. The way that he defends and protects her is downright sweet. I commend him for doing that. It goes to show that he also sees what we saw in her. Her knight in shining armor? He can be one. I am not sure what will happen with these two. But I’m all for MarkVelous. They look good together and he’s a good guy.
Who would not love the kindred spirit that she has? The goodness in her heart and the sincerity she extends to non-celebrities... “they” have got nothing on her. “they” should put themselves in her shoes, let us see if they’ll be able to survive.
Maayos sana kung kahit mayaman sila eh hindi ganyan ang ugali nila. Unang kita ko palang sa kanila, parang mga matapobre na. Hindi ko nilalahat ang mga mayayaman (bato bato sa langit, ang tamaan ay guilty). Kasi wala akong makukwestiyon kay Chanel kasi mabait naman siya. Sana nga lang ‘yung “iba” eh ganun din. Kaya ako, kung hindi man si Marvelous sa mga babae, go na lang ako for Chanel or Malak for the grand prize.
In the end, I know that God will shower blessings to those who are truly beautiful inside not just on the outside. It’s not about winning the money or becoming a celebrity, it’s about your purpose of doing something good to others and use whatever fame, fortune and stardom that you will have to serve God and the mankind. Marvelous deserves to win it and to achieve her dreams step by step.
