A Fan Reaction on the Police Report of Christina Grimmie’s Murder, Investigation Closed + New Details

I know how a fan can be. I can be such a fan girl at times. I am updated with my idol’s social media accounts and I watch videos about her. You know almost everything. She becomes your role model. She inspires you to be a better person especially when she’s such a kind soul herself. BUT there’s a fine line between things. Anything in excess is definitely destructive and unhealthy. If your world pretty much revolve ONLY around her and you start to have outrageous fantasies, there’s nothing good about it.

Christina’s murderer is anything but normal. There were warning signs but no one did something about it.  After all, who would have expected that she actually had such a dangerous kind of a fan?

I have been wanting to know how the investigation went. I just needed it to understand what happened because it’s still not easy. I dreaded that moment when she had to suffer so much. I have already said this, I would have taken that bullet for her in a heartbeat if I was there. She was the least deserving person to die, especially in that way.

Why did he have to kill her?

On May 24 and 25, Christina Grimmie celebrated Mother’s Day and Mommy Tina’s birthday, respectively. The whole family had a perfectly fun time and they were happy. Meanwhile, on the 25th in Florida, someone with a murderous plan purchased a gun that would eventually be used to kill the oblivious Christina. Later on, he would have been staring at the picture posted in her social media accounts. The one where she was smiling directly to the camera while she was with her father, mother and brother.

While Christina would have been doing her usual routine (preparing for her US tour with Before You Exit), this guy would have purchased a ticket for her concert in Florida and went through what he had planned. By May 31, he would finally be in possession of that gun. Christina would have been in a series of media interviews (which would turn out to be her last). I cringe watching that one interview where she just thanked Jesus for the success she had been having for the past months. The next day, he would purchase another one and get a hold of it by June 7 (three days to Christina’s death).

Days before the 10th, she would have been having a normal time not knowing of the tragic fate that would befall on her. She would have been so excited to wrap up the tour and go back on working with her new songs. The guy would still be monitoring her social media accounts and watching her videos. He would have made sure that his guns were ready. The only one who would have known of Christina’s last day on Earth was him. He knew what he was going to do. No one else could have anticipated it.

The guy didn’t go to work. He checked in some place. Her final hours was looming but he still had managed to eat. He had every intention to pursue on killing her. He attended that concert. He had watched her perform that night. He had hidden his guns well. He was in line for that meet and greet. He was anxiously waiting for his turn. When he did, he made sure she wouldn’t survive. He shot her close to her head and as if that was not enough, he also shot her thrice to her torso. She fell to the ground. It happened so quickly. Her brother was only able to tackle the murderer. When the guy had his chance, he shot himself in the head. He died on the spot while someone was doing CPR on Christina. She was then rushed to the hospital. She would not be able to survive. She would be pronounced dead at 10:59 pm on July 10, right in the ER.

Now that Christina’s murder case has been considered close and we actually have a supplementary report, we could at least construct this whole scenario and come up with the best motive for his crime. What fits best with the evidence, witnesses and testimonies?

Let’s talk about Christina first. Her autopsy states that she died from multiple gunshot wounds and her death was considered a homicide. Initially, what we knew was there were at least three to four gun shots fired that the witnesses heard. The report revealed that she was shot once in the head at a pretty close range and three times in her torso. I basically feel awful knowing about this, to be honest. The gun shot in her head was actually fatal. So, to think that a bullet in one’s head is bad enough, why the need for that guy to shoot her three times more? That absolutely gave away the fact that he didn’t want her alive. You wonder what Christina could have done that would make him do that?

First off, I couldn’t imagine how painful it was for her. I wish I was there so I could have taken that bullet for her. I won’t mind, not because I want to die and I don’t treasure my life. It’s just that someone as wonderful as she is should still be here lighting up this dark dark world. Second, she is such a warm and welcoming person. I break down knowing that she didn’t get to defend herself and dodge those bullets.

So, what could have been the motive? What did Christina do to warrant such violence from the killer? I believe that murder is not justifiable. It’s one of the worst sins you could ever commit. Your soul is guaranteed to end down in the place we call HELL. Obviously, that monster belong there. The problem wasn’t Christina’s. It was that guy himself. Unsurprisingly, when the police investigated the killer’s life and background, you pretty much knew that he was the kind of person who would end up doing what he did to Christina. I am just outrage that NO ONE from his family, friend and co-workers did something because the way  that I look at it, he clearly had a SERIOUS mental issue. They just let him be the way he was. I can be weird sometimes and pretty techie too but this guy was way above and beyond.

He had been really obsessed about Christina for at least a year. SHE was HIS LIFE apart from his work. That’s creepy. He had an aversion to light. He was socially awkward. The most disturbing of all was the fact that he began to change himself for her, like LITERALLY change his appearance. Maybe he wanted to please her but this action is not an admiration but more of obsession and feeding one's fantasies. I don’t know why Christina of all celebrities though. What is it about her that drew her to him? Personally, I admire her for her incredible talent, wonderful personality and strong faith. On the other hand, this guy had developed deadly fixation on her. I have my social media accounts and I use it to connect with the celebrities that I admire BUT for this guy, he didn’t have one. Yet he was adamant to know everything that she did by stalking her every chance that he got. I watch her videos, he did too. The only difference was, I had another life. He didn’t. His world revolved around her.

Christina had been open about her Christian faith. She’s unlike any other people who call themselves ‘Christian’ though. She truly LIVED her faith. Her life was a testament to how much she loved Jesus. Her career also became her ministry. She was able to influence other Christians with their faith. I, for one, has been inspired to have a stronger faith and to love Jesus more. Her kindness and goodness that have been evident by those people who knew her based on what they have been sharing since she left this world were a product of when one person follows Jesus faithfully. She once mentioned that it was how she lived and it was her whole life.

Apparently, this guy was an atheist and his only ‘friend’ said that he started to believe in God since he had seen it on her. This made him have a way better view of the world. The tragic thing about this is that monster had a choice. He could either follow the way Christina was living through her faith OR ignore it all together. You see, if he had chosen the former, he would have had known about God and His love. He would have had his own relationship with God. He could have been saved at that point, which would have not led him to do something as evil as what he did to her. The weird thing is, when he had talked to his friend a week before, he said that he was tired and he wanted to “ascend”. Now, based from that statement, my theory is that he killed her because he wanted to take her with him.

If only he was smart enough and he had chosen the good path, he would have known that murdering her was actually going against the result that he wanted. Why? Yes, he did kill her BUT he didn’t manage to take her with him. How? Well, by committing that crime, he’s now burning in hell for all we know. I can assure you, Christina is enjoying herself in Heaven with Jesus. So, if anything, her death only made it MUCH impossible for him to take her. The distance between them is infinitely far now more than when they were both here. He’s never going to escape hell. Heaven is beyond unreachable in that place.

The report also revealed that he had encrypted his phone and destroyed his hard drive, which made it impossible for the investigators to retrieve data that could have provided more information about the killer’s obsession. Why would he do that? The best explanation would be that he had incriminating evidence against him in that phone and hard drive that he didn’t want to be in possession of anyone else. I have a hunch that those two contain files like pictures and videos of Christina, and it’s very possible that the history of his browser would expose the fact that he really did spend ALL HIS TIME searching for her. I would not be shocked.

It’s alarming for me that despite those behaviors: no one had actually confined him in a psychiatric hospital; no one was aware he had purchased guns; and no one knew he had the guts to harm Christina, the one person that they knew all along whom he was SO OBSESSED about. Who, in their RIGHT minds, would just do nothing about it? Because if I had a person like that in my neighborhood, I’d be so scared for my life and for everyone else’s life.

Watching Christina’s videos of that night when she was performing on stage while that guy was part of the audience could get super creepy and depressing. She didn’t know. She was planning on releasing her next EP “Side B” this year. She had a lot of things going on for her. The future would have been brighter for her if she had not been murdered.

Looking back at one of her interviews on 2014, she was asked if he wanted more people in her wedding or in her funeral. She preferred the latter just as long as those people were genuinely there for her not because they were dragged to be there. It’s eerie because her death proved that she actually had so much love from so many people. That only means she was such a beautiful person.

Again, I will say this over and over, she didn’t die in vain. The music that she left and her lasting legacy live on. Not to mention that through her faith in Jesus Christ, she had gained an eternal life in heaven with Him. Death was not the end for Christina. It was the beginning. Of course, though it’s sad for us that she was called home too soon by God, I am pretty sure her family and friends take comfort in the fact that she’s in a better place. She wouldn’t not be hurt there. As frands, we should remember that too. Let’s celebrate her life. Though we might cry once in a while as we remember her, she would not want us to be in despair.

Christina, I love you. I wish I had met you here but I guess I will have my chance up there when the time comes.
